Our Staff

Kim McIntyre - Director of Medical Services/ Veterinary Technician in Training

Kim grew up on Salt Spring Island and through numerous career paths and life experiences she has found her passion in veterinary medicine. She loves her job and truly appreciates that all of the skills she has acquired over her lifetime are put to use in her position at the clinic. Currently she is studying to become a Registered Veterinary Technician through Thompson Rivers University Distance Program. When not at the clinic, she spends time with her family, her dog Teddy, her cats Brown-Pink and Ember, her chickens, her feisty mare Tara and her cheeky miniature horse Buddy!  She loves practicing horsemanship and developing herself to the best of her abilities. Her most favorite place is on the back of her horse in the wilderness with the sun on her back.

Lindsey Taylor - Groomer

Lindsey Taylor was born and raised in Calgary, but has since lived all over the world. Having travelled to over 30 countries, she settled in SaltSpring in late 2016, and hopes to stay here for as long as possible. Lindsey has always had a passion and love for animals, and was thrilled to get the opportunity to help them professionally. She spent the first year at the clinic as an assistant, before realizing that she had an interest in grooming. Trained under the amazing Christo, she has enthusiastically jumped in to the grooming position, and loves it more every day! She recently completed her Level 1 dog grooming course at Wags in Parksville, and hopes she can continue to hone her grooming skills, and further her education whenever possible.

Janet - Veterinary Technician

Janet has many years of diverse experience in a number of animal care situations. Much of that has been in small and mixed animal practices, with a sprinkling of work in microbiology, as well as postmortem government labs to round out her portfolio.

Janet's love for animals began with her beloved childhood pets. In college she pursued her training as a Veterinary Technician. Later, she delighted in raising her three children on a hobby farm in rural Ontario.

Moving west in 2007, Janet continued to work in the field of veterinary care. Sharing her hillside home on Salt Spring with Roland, much of her spare time is spent caring for her numerous and much loved animals.

Janet's wee menagerie currently includes a variety of breeds of chickens, alpacas, goats, a sheep, pot belly pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, two Boston Terriers and a kitten!

As well, Janet grows a big garden and enjoys beach combing and creating wood crafts - with of course, precious time taken to visit her growing family of grandchildre!

Christo is our jack of all trades.   He is always ready to lend a helping hand and say hi to the animals!  Ask him about his previous career as a safari guide in South Africa.

Carlie is also our behind the scenes helper cleaning our clinic!

If you're lucky once in a while you might meet a small smiley face at the clinic as Zeena much prefers the cushier lifestyle of being a couch or chair hog!!!
